David E. Silva, CPA
Dsilva@cpassa.comDave is a founding partner and the managing partner of Silva Sceirine & Associates (Rife Silva & Co. LLC). He has been practicing as a CPA in Nevada for over 30 years, with an emphasis in auditing and consulting. Dave is currently serving clients in the local government and non-profit sectors.
Prior to the founding of the firm, the majority of Dave’s career in public accounting was spent with a regional accounting firm which included a 3 year term as managing partner.
Dave is a native Nevadan, raised and educated in Las Vegas (UNLV). In 1991, Dave and his wife, Christine, relocated to Reno. They are the proud parents of two children- Jaclyn, who resides in Austin, TX and is pursuing a graduate degree in social work and Nicolas, who is an undergraduate at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.

Dtsceirine@cpassa.comDavid (Tom) Sceirine, CPA joined the firm as a Manager in 2016 after working for Jeff J. Rife and Associates for six years. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Applied Statistics in 2006, and earned a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Accountancy in 2010. Tom has experience in income tax preparation for business, individual, trust, estate and nonprofit returns. His experience also includes preparing compilations, reviews and governmental audits of financial statements. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants (NVCPA). Tom resides in Yerington and enjoys working on his family’s ranch, skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Melinda Torvinen, CPA – Partner
Mtorvinen@cpassa.comMelinda has been with the firm since 2013. She has 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing, business consulting and income tax preparation. She has specific experience in the mining industry, casino gaming industry, governmental entities, private schools, not-for-profit entities, and single audits. Melinda is a native Nevadan raised in the Truckee Meadows. Melinda enjoys helping children further their education, supporting arts and culture in our community, and participating in outdoor recreation.
Sabrina Gutierrez (Carvalho)
Sgutierrez@cpassa.comSabrina has been with the firm since 2018. Sabrina graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2018, and received a graduate degree in accounting at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019.
She is a member of Beta Alpha Psi (Zeta Iota Chapter), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants (NVCPA). She resides in Reno and enjoys taking her dogs out hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
Theresa Hobbs
Theresa is an Administrative Assistant at the firm. She has been with the firm since 2018. Theresa serves as the office receptionist in the Yerington office, and provides bookkeeping, sales tax preparation, and payroll services, while ensuring all tax deadlines are met.
Prior to joining the firm, Theresa had 13 years of service in the Army National Guard and received a Degree in Court Reporting.
Theresa has been a member of the Yerington community for three years. She is originally from Alliance, Nebraska. She is a proud mother of three sons – Aden – 11 years old and attends Yerington Intermediate School, Xavien – 8 years old and attends Yerington Elementary School, and Marcus – 5 years old and attends Yerington Elementary School. Theresa enjoys partaking in community sports and activities.
Albert J Kenneson, Jr
Akenneson@cpassa.comAl joined the firm in 2020. Al graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills, CA with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1984. Al has over 40 years of experience in accounting, business management and income tax preparation. He also has 13 years of auditing experience as the Chief Auditor for the State of Nevada Department of Education and as the State Business Manager for Lakes Crossing in Sparks, NV. Al feels like a native of Nevada, having lived here, with his wife of over 40 years, Laura, for 30 years. Laura and Al have Nevada raised two children, both of whom graduated from UNR and who are raising their own children and pursuing their careers in Reno.
By the way, originally born in Connecticut, Al is a die-hard New York Yankee fan.
